How many clocks will you change this weekend?

Have you ever told yourself that you can’t make a change to your life? That it’s too risky? That you wouldn’t be able to keep it up? Well you’re just about to disprove that theory. This weekend you will make some changes that will affect how you live each day and you will stick with those changes through good weather and bad – just like you have done every March for the past umpteen years. You will change all the clocks in your house by one hour, and then you will change the time you get up in the morning, the time you go to work, the time you have your dinner, the time you go to bed. It will affect you, your family, your friends, your colleagues. And you will deal with it, you will make the adjustment, and you will keep it up. The light levels and temperature at 7am will be different next week to what it was last week, but you will deal with it, you will make the adjustment, and you will keep it up. And you will enjoy the lighter evenings that it gives you.

So, why do you tell yourself that you can’t change in other aspects of your life? Have you been thinking of making a change to how you work? Are you telling yourself that you wouldn’t be able to keep it up? Or that it will affect other people and they won’t be able to deal with it? Maybe it’s time to pause and think this through, to start to distinguish the facts about the change from the story you tell yourself about the change. But it’s not easy to do that on your own – we could sit down together and I could help you to clarify your thoughts, so that you can reset the clock on another aspect of your life. And you will enjoy discovering that you can make that change and keep it up.

It's time to think about making that change and resetting that other clock. What story are you telling yourself that is stopping you?
